Red Deer River
DescriptionA relatively large river running through a large scenic valley. We stated at the McKenzie Crossing bridge (East of Big Valley) and went down to Drumheller.
LevelBeginner - Intermediate depending on water levels
DistanceIt is approximately 75 Km from McKenzie Crossing to Drumheller -
Duration:We did this stretch in 2 days but planned for 3 (we were paddling steady the entire first day and got further than we thought we would the first day).
Access (Land Agency)Started at McKenzie Crossing bridge (close to Big Valley) and took out at Drumheller (Newcastle Beach Park). If we were to do it again we would probably start further north and end further north - perhaps at the ferry or Morrin bridge. Note: if you stay over night at McKenzie crossing bridge there is a camping area but it does cost ($15 - 25).
